Dear Dr. Marga:
I have noticed many conferences that educate patients on breast cancer and reconstruction. Are there any conferences for lymphedema patients that I should look into?
Thanks for helping,
I agree, there are numerous national meetings to promote education for breast cancer treatment (i.e. Young Survivor’s and FORCE). Most have small information sessions addressing limited issues important to those who suffer from Breast Cancer Related Lymphedema (BCRL). Few have extensive forums including all forms of lymphedema (primary and secondary). Even fewer have discussions on comprehensive treatment modalities.
I suggest the upcoming meeting of the National Lymphedema Network (NLN) in September 2014. This is largest national meeting focused on the care of lymphedema patients. Topics include prevention, diagnosis, genetics, basic science advancements and all forms of management (MLD/CB, night time alternatives, pneumatic compression, surgery, acupuncture, laser….). Imagine 4 days of learning from the experts in the field!!!!
Hope to see you in Washington in September 2014!
